Dr. A. Darren Sholar
Dr. Sholar is a native of Duplin County and has been practicing in Wallace since 1996. He is a 1984 Graduate of East Duplin High School. His educational background consist of Associate in Science from Chowan College in 1986, Bachelors in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1988 and Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of North Carolina in 1992. After graduating dental school, he spent three and a half years with the Indian Health Service in Lodge Grass, Montana on the Crow Indian Reservation.
Dr. Sholar remains committed to the study of dentistry by attending numerous continuing education courses each year. He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Wallace. He enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters. When not at the office; Dr. Sholar enjoys fishing, hunting, boating and golf.
Dr. Joell-Kennedy Parker
Dr Kennedy is a native of Beulaville and joined Southland Dental Care in October of 2008. She is a 1999 graduate of East Duplin High School. Her educational background consists of a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from East Carolina University, a Doctor of Dental Surgery from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a General Practice Residency from the Brody School of Medicine at ECU. Dr. Kennedy is currently participating in a nine-month dental implant continuum sponsored by the Triangle Dental Institute in Durham.
When not at the office, Dr. Kennedy enjoys playing golf and riding bikes with her husband Jay. She loves spending time with her neice and nephew and going to the beach with friends. She attends Wallace Presbyterian Church and is a member of the choir.
Dental Hygienist
Helen Johnson
Helen graduated from Tennessee State University & Meharry Medical college, in Nashville Tennessee. She has been in the dental field for 25 years as a Registered Dental Hygienist. Helen lives in Wallace with her husband Warren, Dog Spanky, Mama Kitty and Baby Kitty. She enjoys dining out, going to the beach & pool, and spending time with her husband on the golf course.
Tina Bond
Tina is a Registered Dental Hygienist. She has been working in the dental field for 8 years. Tina lives in Wallace with her husband Chris, son Jordan and daughter Kinsley. Tina enjoys photography, reading, going to the beach, and spending time with her family.
Teresa Milam
Teresa graduated from Coastal Carolina Community College. She has worked as a Dental Hygienist for 28 years. Teresa lives in Burgaw with her husband Jay. Teresa and Jay have twins, Justin and Courtney. She also has a new daughter-in-law Ashley. Teresa loves to sing, teach exercise classes, collect sea glass, and just hang out at the beach.

Barbara Hanchey
Barbara is our Office Administrator. She has been in the Dental field for over 10 years. Barbara has lived in Rose Hill most of her life. She has 2 children, daughter Margie, son Hugh, and two grandchildren, Carley 8 and Holt 4. In her spare time Barbara enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, gardening, her Koi pond, and horseback riding.
Wanda Brown
Wanda is our Insurance and Treatment Plan Coordinator. Wanda has lived in Wallace most of her life and has been in the Dental field for 8 years. Wanda is married to Allen and has two girls, Beth & Paige. Wanda enjoys watching all sports, hanging out with friends, going to the beach & pool, shopping & spending time with the family.
Michelle Scronce
Michelle is our Front Desk and Appointment Coordinator. She graduated from Coastal Carolina Community College as a Certified Dental Assistant & has been in the dental field for 16 years. Michelle lives in Wallace with husband Mark and daughter Marlee. She loves spending time with her family, shopping, going to the beach & pool, working in her yard, and reading.

Sarah Croom
Sarah graduated from Cape Fear Community College as a Certified Dental Assistant. Sarah lives in Watha with her husband Brent and 3 year old son Blake. Sarah has been in the Dental field for 8 years. She spends her free time playing with Blake, reading, working in the yard, doing crafts, and going to the beach.
Karen Teachey
Karen has been a dental assistant at Southland Dental Care since 2009. She is a native of Teachey and graduated from Wallace Rose Hill in 1998. Karen lives in Teachey with her husband Daniel and three active children Ashton, Garrett, and Owen. Spending time with her husband and children brings her the most happiness. She enjoys the outdoors, photography, boating and the beach.
